All about Flipkart's new complete mobile protection plan

Flipkart has made a partnership with Asus and has now come up with a new Value Added Service for smartphone buyers in India. With the launch of the new Asus ZenFone Max Pro, Flipkart has launched this protection plan called 'Complete Mobile Protection'. They say that it is an industry first coverage plan for smartphones in India.

This plan is introduced with the ZenFone Max Pro and is priced at Rs. 999 per year. But for now this plan is available for a special introductory price of just Rs. 49 with the Asus ZenFone Max Pro.

Some Highlights of this plan

Flipkart says that this is totally different from the brand warranty that is given by the manufacturers. This plan not only does provide cover for accidental damage but assures you quick replacements, free pickups and drops.

This main highlight of this plan is the guranteed repair or replacement for the phones and also provides a 10-day limit for repairs failing which Flipkart will replace your device. Flipkart also says that it's planning to eliminate hidden costs and repair charges which companies charge sometimes even when the warranty is valid. Last but not the least, Flipkart has made a single helpline number whereas many others have multiple helpline numbers which is irritating.

Third party displays on iPhones disabled on iOS 11.3

The recent update for iOS was released by Apple and included a lot of new changes in it which made my iPhone & iPad work so blazing fast since the first update of iOS 11. But reports coming up recently saying that many users are facing issues with their displays after the update.

According to the reports, the displays turn on fine but the touch input is totally not recognized by the phone. This makes the phone completely useless. After analyzing the reports from users, it is found that this problem is occurring only for the users who've replaced their iPhone's displays with a 3rd party display vendor. This is something that Apple doesn't recommend and users who've done so have voided their warranty. Users go to third party displays because getting their displays replaced by Apple is too expensive.

Since this issue has come up, 3rd party vendors have found a workaround to solve this problem. Here the issue is with the dedicated microchip which controls the touch input signals which is not supporting the 3rd party displays. So there is a way to get that microchip replaced. But that's also a pricey one. There is no confirmation that whether the above method is possible or not.

Till now Apple hasn't said anything about this issue and there's no idea whether Apple is intending to fix this issue with an update or not. But the same kind of issue happened with 3rd party displays earlier and was fixed by Apple in iOS 11.0.3. So there's still hope that this issue might be fixed.

Gmail to come up with self destructing mails

Google appears to be working on a Confidential Mode where everything is privacy focused and could also see self-destructing emails.

This Confidential Mode allows a user to send self-destructing emails & prevent the recipient from downloading, forwarding, printing or copying the contents of the email. With this new update, Gmail will show a lock like icon to activate the Confidential Mode. Here you can set the expiry date for the email after which it'd be deleted.

But the catch in this feature is that you can still take a screenshot or do screen recording so that you can have a copy of the email for yourself.

Some other features in this Confidential Mode is that the recipient would have to type in an SMS passcode to confirm their identity before the contents of the email are displayed. After entering the passcode, the recipient would also have to click on a link to verify your identity to reveal the contents of the email.

The thing is that Gmail is actually not deleting any emails. It just disables all the links for the email so that it can't be viewed. But its not sure that this feature will be available to emails sent to other email platforms.

Did you know why few days were missing in 1752?

In the year 1752, the month of September had few missing days in its calendar. The reason was due to an assumption in the duration of an year. Pope Gregory XIII had a problem with Easter in the year 1582. According to the Julian Calendar that the church and large parts of the world followed, measure that an year consists of 365 days and 6 hours.

But the thing is that the above answer is not right. The length of an year is 365 days 5 hours and 49 minutes. So this 11 minute difference might not seem so much but when it is compounded over a period of 1300 years, it makes a big difference. So the areas and countries under his leadership had skipped a few days. But not all the countries accepted this in the beginning. In the year 1752, Britain and its colonies later adopted to this change and skipped 11 days in the year 1752, from September 3 through 13.

Image result for september 1752 calendar

But Russia didn't adopt to the change till the year 1918 and Greece didn't adopt to the change till 1923. So ultimately these 2 countries had to skip 13 days instead of 11.
